Three photographs of the “Tank Man” temporarily stopping the advance of a column of tanks on June 5, 1989 in Beijing, China.

The top photograph, arguably the most used photograph of the event, was taken by Jeff Widener from the Beijing Hotel about half a mile away from the scene.

The second photograph was taken by Stuart Franklin from the fifth floor of the same hotel and shows the entire army he was blocking in Tiananmen Square.

The third photograph was taken from ground level by Terril Jones where we can see the Tank Man standing in the road prior to the tanks rolling up to him.
